Caldera Music Fest 2016

I had been contacted by the organizers of the Caldera Pagan Music Festival through my Etsy shop in December last year about attending Caldera as a vendor. I had read a bit about the festival and as it was their first year, I thought I would give it a try, as it should be low key. You know, more practice at vending. It was held in La Fayette, GA on some private property. The area was beautiful.

Thought the numbers were not as high as anticipated, there were some fabulous vendors and I enjoyed meeting them and seeing their work, and hearing some great music. My husband went with me to help me out.
It was so hot and dusty. My plan was to leave the "walls" on my booth but it was just too hot, which took away from my look. It worked, but wasn't what I had spent hours planning and measuring out. But every show I do I learn something and change it up accordingly.

My Woodland Queen costume and Blue Fairy costume drew lots of attention and traffic. I'm going to have a whole lot more costumes available for next year. I could have sold this dress several times, but I hadn't photographed it yet. Since the show and writing this post I have photographed it. I'll be doing a post on it later and updating this post with a link. But here is a sneak peek.

There was serious talent at the festival. Several artists did demonstrations in their booths. One of the vendors, The PX Smith had some fantastic pieces and even let people smith a bit, including my husband.

My husband learning a bit of blacksmithing from The PX Smith.

This artist creates some beautiful knives, swords, jewelry and other items. Seriously beautiful work. It was also nice to know that this art form is being picked back up.

Another artist I was very impressed with was Melody Allen of  Oniero Ceramics N Skin, out of Knoxville, TN. She had her leather works at the festival and let me just say they were amazing. Her cosplay of a steampunk faun was amazing as well!

The detail and care she takes with her leather works is just beautiful. Her finish on the edges is just perfect. If you are looking for quality leather work, she is your girl.

Our vendor neighbors, Heathen Craft, is a coop group of artists and makers out of New Orleans. They had wide variety of handmade goods, and some fabulous people.

There were lots of fabulous vendors, artists, and makers. This blog would go on forever if I profiled each of them. They each had unique style and were very kind and eager to talk with attendees and other artists about their creative process. They were all a great group of people.

I am excited that we will be attending next year as vendors again. For next year they changed the dates to October. SO hopefully that will cool things off a bit. They are also changing the layout, which means there won't be as many vendors in 2017. I am excited to meet all the new artists and makers next year!
