Childlike Empress Cosplay Photo Shoot

I have been wanting to do some cosplay photo shoots and this one was at the top of my list. I had the perfect model for the shoot so I just needed to make her gown and head piece. I also had to figure out the back ground.  I looked for weeks for a digital background but alas, couldn't find anything so I resorted to making my own. Here are the final images:

These images were for my own personal fan art and no monies were made from these images. I was considering doing some with the character Bastion and the Empress together. Maybe after I finish up the next 2 shoots, The Secret of the Kells and Labyrinth.

"Bastion, Call... my... name!"

Let me know what you think! Follow my blog to keep up with the latest photo sessions and behind the scenes looks at how I do my craft and create my images.

Family Movie Night

It is the end of the school year and we wanted to give our kids someplace to celebrate this joyous occasion. Plus we wanted them to be able to keep up with their friends through the summer, and meeting the parents and getting to know them was the best way to do that, so family movie night was born.

We had intended to use our projector outside and have everyone lay out on lawn to watch the movie. We were serving, organic, non-gmo popcorn and drinks. Everything was planned. And then we got rained out. There was a chance of rain but it wasn't high enough to make us change the date or move it to indoors. That is until the ominous dark clouds rolled in 15 minutes before people were due to arrive.

The ominous clouds that rolled in at the last minute.
With the help of our kids and a few of their friends that arrived early, we packed everything us and moved into the living room. Fortunately, we got all of the electronics and paper goods inside before it started to down poor.

We went with plan B, piling in the living room. Most of the families just dropped their kids off, which ended up being a good thing as there would have been standing room only. Though, we didn't get to know any of the parents. The kids all had a great time anyway and that's what counts! (I am not posting most of the pictures as there are children in them and I want to maintain their privacy).

Next up, The Never Ending Story photo session AND the Secret of the Kells photo session.

Fairy Angst

I am in the process of finishing up a cosplay photo shoot for The Never Ending Story. In the mean time here is a garden fairy costume I created using scraps of vintage fabrics. Every bit of the costume was handmade and it is fully lined. It will be available in my Etsy shop soon.

Here are the final images from the photo shoot of this fairy costume:

Griffin House St. Patrick's Day Party 2017

Better late than never! Things have been so busy with business changes and living arrangement changes, and studio changes and job changes that I haven't really had a change to post (or edit, or even look at) and personal images. But did want to be sure and post images from out St. Patrick's day party this year. I think it was the best one yet!

The crowd was probably the largest we have ever had and the most diverse. We didn't know about 30% of the people that showed up, they were invites from other people who had come in the years prior.

One thing we always do every year is hand make the party favors and something for the people to enjoy. This year we made lollies. An Irish Whiskey lolly as the take home and an Irish Cream Lolly as a prize for one of the group games we did.

Bringing everything to the correct temperature.
This year I used Black Bush Irish Whiskey.

I soaked the lolly sticks in the whiskey as well.
100% pure edible gold flakes in the lollies.

All done and ready for the custom made wrappers I made.

We also made a game, Battle Shots and brewed our beer again as well. Both turned out fabulous! See...

We have some more new ideas for next year! I am super excited about it. So, until next time friends!

Update on Jennifer Griffin Studios

Some of you may not know that I updated my photography logo and my business. Lily Mairi will no longer be my business name, but it will remain the name of my product line. However, I will be focusing more on photography, art and costuming, as that is where my heart is. My website, JenniferGriffinStudios.com has been updated to include a client portal for my clients to view and purchase images from their sessions with a secure pass code so they are the only one's who are able to view images, keeping everything private.

Hydrangea flower crown can be found here

Also new, are my package pricing for photography sessions. Those are also updated on my website and include Mini Sessions, Head Shots for Professionals and Fairy Sessions.

Blue flower clip can be found here

Fall head piece can be found here

I will be including more costume and costume accessories for adults and plus size women. I am nearly finished with a fairy wedding gown! (Post to come later about that.)

I have 2 sessions that I will be posting on in the next 2 weeks or so, Secret of the Kells and The Neverending Story. I am SUPER excited about them!  Stay tuned for those.

Thanks for checking in! Leave a comment about what kinds of photography sessions you would like to see.

Alice In Wonderland

I had this idea. I wanted to create an image of my version of Alice In Wonderland. I originally had 5 characters I wanted to do. Alice, Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter, The White Rabbit and the Queen of Hearts. I wanted to use the same model for each character and do a composite image of all 5 characters in 1 image. So, this is my process...

I have done some basic composite work. Nothing as huge as this though. Being that I do a bunch of costumes for my images and for clients, I knew that part would be easy. I drew out what I saw in my head. I searched Pinterest for inspirational ideas.
It took me a few months to collect and make everything. And over a 3 day time period, and with the help of my mom and my friend Vicki, we got the images! Well, all but 1, The Queen of Hearts. The weather got bad and we didn't get to her. My little model was fantastic! She did such a good job and I couldn't have done it without her.

After setting up the night before to be sure I had everything, the next day we started. 3 full days of shooting gave us this:

You can view a full resolution image on my website www.JenniferGriffinStudios.com and view all of the other images from the session there as well in my Gallery.

Here are a few others from the shoot.
