Autumn Water Photo Shoot

Well, I think this is a record for me. I actually made it less than a year between blog posts, lol!

Not that I haven't been doing anything. As a matter of fact I have been SUPER busy. Too busy actually. So much so that I have decided to drop a few things. But more on that later. I wanted to get these images out there from my first in water photo shoot.

My goal with this shoot was 3 fold. 1. I wanted to do a shoot with sisters. 2. I wanted to do my version of a milk bath shoot and 3. I had new fairy crowns and necklaces I needed to photograph for my Etsy shop. I feel like I accomplished that.

I had done some research on milk baths and water shoots. Even though I like milk bath images, they are very popular which is not my thing. If it is trendy, I don't want to do it.
The first thing I did was purchased a kiddy pool, one that would fit 3 kids at the least. Then I had to figure out what I wanted to use to color the water. Since I knew I wanted a sort of Medieval, Lady of the Lake vibe, I wanted the water to look dark, like lake water. Since I do a lot of paper crafting and coffee/tea dying of paper and fabric, I figured, why not use coffee to tint the water. So, off to the grocery store I went to buy a couple of jars of instant coffee. I collected my coffee, my greenery and my grapevine from my stash and headed to the back yard.

I used stools and chairs, and whatever else I could find to hold the sides of the pool up until it was full of water since it wasn't a blowup pool.
Even though it was fall and the weather was warm, I figured the water would be cold. The girls weren't sure about doing this.

I set everything up the day before the shoot. I covered the water with a black tarp to keep bugs and junk out as well as hopefully warm the water some.

The water was freezing and the middle sister just couldn't do it. So I only got shots of the oldest and the youngest in the water. I did manage to get a shot of the 3 of them out of the water that turned out pretty good.

Here are the rest of the final images as well as some of the product shots. The behind the scenes images and product shots are shot with my iPhone.

Fairy Angst

I am in the process of finishing up a cosplay photo shoot for The Never Ending Story. In the mean time here is a garden fairy costume I created using scraps of vintage fabrics. Every bit of the costume was handmade and it is fully lined. It will be available in my Etsy shop soon.

Here are the final images from the photo shoot of this fairy costume:

Update on Jennifer Griffin Studios

Some of you may not know that I updated my photography logo and my business. Lily Mairi will no longer be my business name, but it will remain the name of my product line. However, I will be focusing more on photography, art and costuming, as that is where my heart is. My website, JenniferGriffinStudios.com has been updated to include a client portal for my clients to view and purchase images from their sessions with a secure pass code so they are the only one's who are able to view images, keeping everything private.

Hydrangea flower crown can be found here

Also new, are my package pricing for photography sessions. Those are also updated on my website and include Mini Sessions, Head Shots for Professionals and Fairy Sessions.

Blue flower clip can be found here

Fall head piece can be found here

I will be including more costume and costume accessories for adults and plus size women. I am nearly finished with a fairy wedding gown! (Post to come later about that.)

I have 2 sessions that I will be posting on in the next 2 weeks or so, Secret of the Kells and The Neverending Story. I am SUPER excited about them!  Stay tuned for those.

Thanks for checking in! Leave a comment about what kinds of photography sessions you would like to see.

LilyMairi mini top hat and necklace

Some of these have my old watermark on them as I didn't start using the new one until mid January 2017. They are all still my images, I own copyright.

Changes In Business

I have always struggled with having my hand in too many pots, spinning too many plates if you will. I haven't really been able to decide what to choose.

Photography

Costume Design

Jewelry Design

Hair Accessories

 Altered Art

Mixed Media

I have decided to rename my actual business because when it comes right down to it, I'd rather be doing photography than anything else. I still have my dream of one day having a brick and mortar storefront studio but for now, I believe doing this is the first step in getting there. Lily Mairi will be my product line name but my business name is Jennifer Griffin Studios.

I still have my Lily Mairi, Etsy shop to purchase my steampunk, fairy and custom accessories and jewelry. My art and costumes will be sold at my new Etsy shop J Griffin Studios. J Griffin because Etsy only allows so many characters to be used in s shop name.
I did this to help out my customers that only want one portion of what I do without wading through everything else. However my main focus is going to be on art photography, or art portraiture.

I have even changed my logo as well.

We will see how it goes. I have some new and fabulous people helping me along the way, encouraging me push forward and refine my processes. Here is to a new year! 2017!
